Dance, Dance, Trigolution!
I know what you are thinking because I thought the same thing when I first heard about kinesthetic learning, “My students would never go for that.” But maybe they would if I could get them to buy into it. Let me clue you into what I am talking about.
I am a notoriously bad dancer. I also really enjoy dancing. My wife recently sent me a picture poking fun at the way I dance.

At first I thought, what a silly picture, that is how I dance. Then I started thinking about it. Would students internalize the function graphs better this way? Could you have a dance day that would lead into the physical meaning of each dance move? Would we start seeing students get up and dance on exam day? I don’t want students memorizing graphs of functions. That is silly. However this could be a good first step into understanding how to recognize different patterns of behavior. That is what we as scientists do. What does everyone else think about Dance, Dance, Trigolution?
